Wish I read other reviews before I "downgraded" to this app!
Wish I read other reviews before I "downgraded" to this app!
Just deleted the app. Dont upgrade
Lost all my saved pins with dates when I was at these places, the updated happened without any notice. This app used to be very useful to me but now is not very user friendly.
Wish I hadnt.
This used to be a great app for use in my classroom, and I used it on an almost daily basis. Now it is of little to no use at all. This may be the worst update of any app Ive ever seen. Im so disappointed.
The biggest thing that all the feedback was about....loss of detail when zooming. Black and white? Why have a map key? National Geographic? Bush league. Could zoom all the way to street level.....All the way!! What is the difference now?? You just stopped before street level. Hmmm I guess the designers didnt actually read the feedback. Typical of big corporations. Heres hoping that there is an actual update coming.
You have changed a beautiful, interesting and useful app into a really useless, meaningless app. Bring the other one back pleeeeeze! Does anyone in your Corp. even read our reviews? Seems to me we would have had another " update" by now given the dissatisfaction expressed by the users!
What a disappointment. A step backward from the previous version. A lack of sufficient detail on the maps is a real bummer. I expected more from National Geographic.
What a horrible upgrade. Its gone from a terrific aide to junk in one simple downgrade. Please bring back the old version. It no longer shows fine grain geographic detail; the distance indicator no longer provides latitude and longitude bearings nor temperature. For me now, the app is unusable. Who was behind this downgrade?
Illustrates the adage: "If it works, why fix it?" The major downgrade has converted what I considered the best World Atlas App on the AppStore into a useless piece of junk -- losing in the process most of the features which made the previous version better than all the rest. Is there any way you can bring back the previous version ??
The reason I bought this app in the first place was its unique ability to zoom into the detailed map level and add pins for wish list locations and places visited. Ive use it many times for travel. I could even use it to estimate my travel time between points. In the new version, I have lost my pins and the ability to zoom to the street level. What made this app great is now gone. I did not purchase the app to learn the capitals of the countries and thats all it is worth now.
Do not bother with this app. It was excellent, but the last downgrade ruined it.
Used to love this app however the latest update has removed the map zooming detail (on and offline) that set it apart from others...and for me has rendered it useless!
I am so sad that National Geographic has come up with something they call a "map". Bunch of crap! No detail. Whats the point of this ap?
This was once an excellent app. I highly recommended to all my friends. Now, even after the "upgrade", it is not worth having/using. Loss of zoom detail is a retrograde step for National Geographic. What ever were the designers thinking? People should lose jobs for the decision to eliminate the best features of the previous version!
My five year old son loved this app when we downloaded it last year. Oh how I wish we wouldnt have installed the update that absolutely ruined one of his favourite activities on his iPad. Why did you remove the satellite view and all things fun and useful from your app?? I can see by the other reviews that most people are unhappy with this update. Can we have an old version back, or money refunded so my son can buy something close to what he used to have?
Used to be a decent "atlas" but the latest upgrade makes it nearly useless. Zooming in to an area now no longer gives any details but simply magnifies the large scale one already sees. Save your money; buy something else.
I agree with every one here, this is a horrible update, do not do it. The first thing I noticed was that five years of pins are suddenly Gone! What a huge waste of time that was. How am I supposed to get hundreds of pins back on the map? So I just start over now? Not just a poor update, but shows a total disregard for users.
For anyone like me whos never used any of the previous versions, its a great app. Intuitive design, nice layout, great features, all make it fun to use and fairly responsive. The FAQ section adequately answers the complaints about the lack of (Bing) zoom-in capability as a result of a fundamental change in the apps architecture. Theyre welcome changes im willing to wait for as well as for the features others have complained are gone.
The old app was half decent. The new one is useless. Cant zoom in very much at all.
