National Geographic World Atlas App Reviews

Once beautiful app, destroyed

This used to be one of my favorite apps. I just brought it up for the first time in a while. I was so disappointed. Please allow an option to use it in its original mode.

Good enough use.

This app is better than some of the negative reviews would have us believe. It is not meant to be a street level map so I dont get those complaints. It is a quick reference for world geography. The reason for my 2 star rating is the push notification value is always wrong. It seems to start counting at 4. I turned it off to avoid the disinformation. Not sure why this simple error has not been fixed. Fix that and I will go to a 4 star. Maybe 5 stars after they lose then corny slo-mo animation on launch.

What were they thinking?

They took a good app and ruined it. Dont waste your time.

Good atlas

Kept on home screen to quickly view unfamiliar regions mentioned in the news. Zooming in/out sometimes leads to unmatched fonts.

Dont throw your money away

This was a good app at one time. Now its sorry.

Poor redesign

This app used to be somewhat useful, although it lacked some of the detail I was hoping for. With this latest update, they destroyed the remaining usefulness. It has very little detail and is now a globe with a modest amount of detail. Very disappointing !

Not worth the price, even tho its free!

After the so-called upgrade, the good stuff is gone. I deleted it from my iPads. Dont waste your time!

Update Ruined It

This used to be a great app, but the lower resolution and map details from the last upgrade ruined it.

Leaves a lot to be desired

Do a search, snd end up with a text box that fills half of the screen and the map bring half covered and greyed out. Dont plan to use this. Going is search of a better atlas that allows me to fully view the map.

Humongous value!

This atlas is both a globe and a flat map. Globes cant be carried in a pocket like flat maps and flat maps distort either shapes or sizes as you zoom out.

Deleting your App

I have had this since I got my iPad. It was great and detailed at beginning. I think I paid 3.99. It is so utterly useless now since recent upgrades, I am going to delete!

Good Atlas

I have been using for awhile and no problems on the iPad Air. My favorite feature is the daily trivia that takes you right to the location of the question. The trivia comes through notification and works great.

I love this app

I think National Geographic has done a fantastic job with their globe/atlas app. I am a teacher and I highly recommend it!

Worthless

This app was ok before last years upgrade. Now pretty worthless if not online.

What happened...stat away now...

When I first downloaded this app 2 years ago, it was very good. Now, satellite view gone... Extensive resolution now limited... Wont find well-known locations... Its one thing to sell me useless crap. It is entirely another thing to cripple the app after I buy it. Is this a Murdoch change or just plain old thievery? Dont buy this.

Horrible!!

This used to be a good atlas, but it now has almost no detail whatsoever. Don’t waste your money.

User interface is poorly thought out.

I never bought the NG Atlas previously because of the lack of detail at a world level (and Im not taking about street level detail). With the redesigning of the app I thought Id give it a try as one reviewer stated so well, skip a cup of coffer and spend the $1.99. The user interface is ridiculous and completely kills the usage of the app. I never would have dreamt that making a good world map and atlas would become Rocket Science"! For example. Why is the map key, 1) buried several levels down in the menu? 2) and when displaying the map key you cannot interact with the map and it zooms the map all the way out!! Why is this proving so difficult for developers? Does anybody at NG actually use atlases?

Can I have the old version back

I really dont like this version at all. Just give me back what was a useful app.

Marginal at best

Sadly not up to the quality of a national geographic product developed two decades ago... Warning, this application is not designed to work offline... Sure if you know you are going to be offline you can download a map.. But that is it. The main purpose I have for getting and atlas as a application is to use it when I am not online. I would encourage national geographic to make a true atlas that works on a disconnected device, otherwise why bother. I will likely be looking for a refund on this application.

Used to be good

This used to be a good. Nat Geo couldnt leave well enough alone. Save your money dont buy this app. I thought they would have improved this by now.....I was wrong.
